Technologies for construction and environmental sustainability

The course

The professionalizing degree course in “Technologies for construction and environmental sustainability” (L-P01) is aimed at training a new professional figure with strong operational skills and knowledge and abilities in the use of the most modern systems to support a construction process, interventions on the built heritage and for the defense of the territory, sustainable management of the environment, reclamation and environmental redevelopment, also with reference to industrial areas.

The aim is to prepare a professional with transversal skills in the construction sector, land protection, controls in the construction process, in a context of transition towards environmental sustainability. The aim is to bring the world of work closer together more effectively, transferring contents that allow the acquisition of specific operational skills.

The graduate will be able to cover operational technical roles collaborating with other professional figures involved in the management of construction sites, control the organization of field activities, deal with legal and administrative problems of low complexity, also in relation to worker safety.

Through the acquisition of skills in digital technologies, and by performing specific tasks, he/she will be able to collaborate in the processes of creation and management of systems and works, to support rehabilitation and functional recovery interventions of the built environment and service infrastructures, with skills that he/she will also acquire thanks to practical laboratory activities and internship paths specifically structured within the training path.

Due to its professional nature, enrollment in a master's degree does not represent a natural outcome for graduates of this course.

The degree course has a locally programmed access. Each year only 100 students are admitted exclusively in chronological order of actual application submission, until the maximum number of available places is reached. Once this limit is reached, no more enrolments will be accepted. Before the start of lessons, an orientation and evaluation test is scheduled to ascertain the aptitude and preparation for studies.

Career opportunities

This is a professional with transversal skills in the sectors of building process management, controls, and land protection, in a context of transition towards environmental sustainability.
The graduate will be able to carry out these activities independently, or by joining the organizational structures of companies and businesses in the construction sector, technical services functional to engineering and architectural design, services aimed at environmental management and requalification and the modernization of technological and industrial plants.
The training path directs the graduate towards significant skills in the sector of worker safety in construction sites, in complex risk areas (such as, for example, industrial areas) with professionalism immediately usable with the qualification of Prevention and Protection Services Manager.

The course is characterized by two curricula: “Technologies for construction” and “Technologies for environmental sustainability”.
Although the elements described above represent a common factor in both curricula, the professional opportunities are distinguished by some peculiar elements:
The Construction Technologist, with specific skills in the construction industry, having acquired advanced skills in the qualification of construction materials, in the appraisal and accounting sector, in the management and requalification of technological systems, in the administrative and accounting management of construction sites and works.
The Environmental Sustainability Technologist, with specific skills in monitoring and surveying, having acquired significant skills in the sector of territorial surveying and environmental monitoring of natural matrices (air, water, soil), civil and industrial environments, in remediation and environmental control.

The graduate will therefore have the ability to communicate with other technical operators in the sector, with the help of technologies and the most advanced systems, with skills that he will also acquire thanks to practical laboratory activities and internship courses.
Continuing studies in master's degrees is not a natural outcome for graduates of this course.
