Medicine and surgery

The course

The single-cycle Master's Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery (class LM-41) aims to train professionals with solid scientific skills and the human and cultural maturity necessary to meet the patient's expectations. The general objective of the Course is, therefore, to train a doctor qualified to practice the profession of surgeon. The graduate in medicine must be able to undertake specialist training in every medical-surgical branch, must have acquired a multidisciplinary vision of the most common problems of health and disease and an in-depth knowledge of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment processes focused not only on the disease but above all on the patient, considered in his entirety of soma and psyche and inserted in a specific bio-social context.

To achieve these objectives, the training path is divided into three disciplinary areas: basic disciplines, characterizing disciplines and professionalizing training activities. These three areas all contribute to the acquisition of specific professional skills, theoretical knowledge, the ability to detect and critically evaluate from a clinical point of view the data relating to the state of health and disease of the individual, interpreting them in the light of one's own scientific knowledge.
