Ranking

University rankings are among the most debated issues in the academic and economic worlds. We all know that classifying universities - that is, placing them in a ranking - depends on the indicators that are used, and therefore on the indicators that are chosen from among the hundreds or thousands possible. In turn, the choice often depends on the interests of those who compile the rankings. It should be said right away that the rankings compiled in Italy are not among the best.
Kore University of Enna has very positive rankings in the rankings compiled abroad, while the rankings compiled by Italian actors generally place UKE in the last places, perhaps choosing as indicators the number of scholarships awarded by the Regions, the number of beds made available also in this case by the Regions, the percentage of students who go abroad, thus favoring the universities of the most active Regions and those closest to the borders with Europe, not always the universities that are actually the best.
The situation is completely different if the rankings are drawn up by special international agencies based abroad, which take into consideration many indicators that actually depend on the quality of the universities and not on the quality of public services. In these cases, UKE is always placed in the central band of the rankings, achieving positions that are extraordinary for a university that is less than twenty years old.
Since there are more than 100 rankings dedicated to the world of universities every year, in order to grasp the ranking of a university it is necessary to use web sites that extract data from a large number of rankings and that assign the right weight to the most important and most reliable rankings in the world.
One site that does this job is UniversityGuru, published in 22 different languages (in Italian universityguru.it), which ranks over 13,000 universities from around the world by extracting data from 108 university rankings and using student reviews.
According to UniversityGuru, Kore University of Enna - which appears in 10 international rankings - is ranked 57th in Italy.
With its 57th position, UKE follows the University of Catania by a few places (53rd) and the University of Urbino by one place (56th), but precedes, among others, Bocconi in Milan (58th), the Scuola Superiore di Trieste (59th), the University of Cassino (62nd), the European University of Florence (64th), the Foro Italico University in Rome (70th), LUISS in Rome (71st), IUAV in Venice (73rd), LUMSA in Rome (75th), LIUC in Castellanza (83rd), just to name a few.
Using all possible relativism and always cautiously considering even the most reliable rankings in the world, one cannot fail to take into account that at an international level the UKE has a very respectable position, of which both its teachers and its students are proud.
