DITALS Basic, I and II level
Presentation
The DITALS Certification is a cultural qualification issued by the University for Foreigners of Siena that evaluates theoretical and practical preparation in teaching Italian to foreigners and certifies different levels of professional competence in this sector.
The Kore Language Center in Enna is one of the locations affiliated with the University for Foreigners of Siena.
There are three levels of DITALS certification:
- The DITALS Basic Certification
- DITALS Level I certification (for all learner profiles)
- DITALS Level II Certification
The DITALS Basic Certification
It certifies an initial competence in teaching Italian to foreigners, intended in particular for teachers whose mother tongue is not Italian and in any case aimed at all those who are preparing to take on the role of teacher of Italian L2.

The DITALS Basic Certification for Italian Schools
The DITALS BASE certification for Italian schools consists of an exam that attests to an initial competence in teaching Italian as a second language, integrated with specific skills in reference to teaching in Italian schools of all levels, in CPIA and in Italian schools abroad.
The admission requirements for the DITALS BASE exam for Italian schools are the same as those required for the DITALS BASE exam, with the exception of the level of linguistic competence in Italian of C1 level of the CEFR for candidates whose native language is not Italian.

DITALS Level I certification (for all learner profiles)
It certifies good competence in teaching Italian as a second language with particular reference to a specific profile of recipients chosen by the candidates: children, adults and the elderly, immigrants, university students, learners of Italian origin, learners of homogeneous mother tongue (Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, German), tourism and hotel operators, Catholic religious figures and USA-University Study Abroad students.

DITALS Level II Certification
It certifies advanced competence in teaching Italian to foreigners and is aimed at teachers who work in any teaching context and with any group of learners.

The DITALS II level certification for Italian schools consists of an exam that attests to advanced competence in teaching Italian as a second language, integrated with specific skills in reference to teaching in Italian schools of all levels, in CPIA and in Italian schools abroad.
