The tax code is a personal code which consists of letters and numbers, that uniquely identifies the subjects within the Italian State, in particular regarding tax and administrative matters; it is not an equivalent to an identity document. We suggest requesting the official tax code at our Embassy in your Country before your arrival in Italy. If you are already in Italy please follow instructions at this page
Residence permit
According to Italian Law (D. Lgs. 286/98) non E.U. citizens, planning to stay in Italy longer than 3 months must apply for a Residence permit within 8 working days after arrival. People with dual nationality (Italian or EU/ExtraEU) do not need to apply for the residence permit. In order to apply for a residence permit you need to complete a “kit” which is available at all the post offices bearing a “Sportello Amico” sign. The kit is an envelope containing the forms and instructions on how to fill them in. At the post office, you will be assigned an appointment at the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters (Questura) responsible for photo signal operations.
Please consult the following page for more info: http://www.poliziadistato.it/articolo/10716
You may contact the KORE International Relations Office (kiro@unikore.it) if you need assistance for the fulfillment of the residence permit procedure.
